A Performative Exhibition by Collaboration
Amy Lemaire and Dana Major Kanovitz explore the collaborative studio process in Bonus Day. We believe working together in art-making and conversation illuminates concept and enhances experience. In collaboration, we find ourselves exposed to more than simply a doubling of the creative process. We make discoveries that would not be possible to make as individuals, and we access concept and experience that seem to be available only through connection with others. We are interested in the nature of this enhancement on topics of language, text, meaning, and cognition.
Bonus Day came about when we found ourselves with an extra day at the close of our last show. We spent this found day walking Philadelphia collecting objects and photographs that we agreed to share for a collaborative exhibition.
