"All the tissue collages I did were to reduce brain pain for all the things I've done which are so strong and emotionally harmful when you're creating them. I did them for no reason other than for pure fun and I really had a great deal of fun doing these.
The colors and color combinations of the tissue reference value. They were me abstracting my thoughts on Africa in a non-topical way.
I was interested in the idea that there were people talking about me as an artist locked into one area of endeavor. So, I did these to show I also could have fun doing art and how advanced I was in creating imagery.
In terms of the aesthetic concepts, I just wanted to have fun with abstract images and show that I can use media other than what comes out of a tube.
These stand up very well as long as you don't put them in direct sunlight or interior light. If placed in an area where there is rather dim light and you're trying to add color, they will blast off the walls."
