This large oil on canvas was one of the artist's earliest major commissions resulting from a collector seeing the artist's work at a small outdoor art fair. The subject was to be a Texas ranchland landscape in spring along the lines of Texas impressionists Julian Onderdonk and Porfirio Salinas. The work was last known to be in the private collection of the buyer in Columbus Texas. The name of the buyer has long been lost but original photographs of the work taken by the artist before delivery on 35 mm transparency film recorded the work in high enough resolution to permit issuance of a limited edition at a somewhat reduced size compared to the original.
