This commissioned work for Roppolo's Pizza's DaVinci Lounge located in the historical 316 E. Sixth Street building in Austin's entertainment district was created by Dan using an entirely digital technique creating millions of hand scribed fine lines in the style developed by Leonardo DaVInci where he created the illusion of rounded forms using parallel lines that follow the curves of human anatomy. The mural itself is 8x72' and the entire mural required over 14 gigabites of digital files to create and took over 4 months of daily work. Once the digital files were created entirely in Adobe Photoshop using a Wacom pressure sensitive pen and tablet they were output on auto body wrap vinyl for installation at the outdoor patio area on the second floor of the pizzeria's lounge. In the nearly 8 years since the work was done, only a few minor repairs have ever had to be made to the vinyl artwork in spite of the brutal Texas heat and torrential rains.
