Forest Fawn by Dan Terry Image: This original pastel painting shows a young fawn fading in and out of the shadows in a sun streaked forest setting. Done around 1978 the work has only been publically exhibited back in the day Dan would occasionally attempt to sell his original works at small local art fairs. When it was last publically shown at the San Marcos Art League group show, it was offered for a mere $75. Today the original work, considered extremely rare as one of the few still existing works created prior to the 1984 San Marcos flood which destroyed most of Dan's other early works, is priced at over 50 times the price it was once offered for. It should be noted that scores of Dan's early works, both original paintings and pastels, were sold for less than $100, most closer to $30. That was in the days long before his work was seen by many millions of book and magazine readers, visitors to the Alamo, and Witte and Victoria Nave and San Antonio Museum of Art, not even counting the nearly 200 murals that now can be seen in almost ever major and mid sized city across the State of Texas.
