The sunset represents the end of the day for one Austin, snapshots of memories of Austin's past as a new emerging behemoth is looming and inevitable. The view is taken from South Congress Avenue just north of the Colorado River looking toward the Capital in the center.
The tallest structure is the Austonian and to it's right the iconic Frost Tower building. Also shown are the W Hotel next to 100 Congress building in brown, and the stairstepped One Congress Plaza building.
Austin Sunset depicts a moment in time of the ever changing Austin city skyline done over a year's time in 2015. Its mood evokes a sense of loss and nostalgia for the city known for it's artistic environment that nurtured creativity and innovation, as the tech industry growth and rapid development of the downtown into a major metropolis replaces much of its historic buildings and drives it's creative artist class further and further from the city's core.
