HOMO VIDENS
Tribute to Norman Rockwell and J. C.
Leyendecker
The source of inspiration for arranging the elements of my work are the characters
from both Norman Rockwell and JC Leyendecker illustrations.
Both American artists illustrated numerous covers for The Saturday Evening Post,
depicting the everyday life of the golden years of American society.
These illustrations, with their massive reach and portraying the society of that time,
allow me to question the actual connection between today's society and the mass
media.
During their lifetimes, Rockwell and Leyendecker, did not receive the recognition
they deserved because they were considered lesser artists working on
"cheesy" or evan “Corny” themes. From my perspective, I revive them in my work, not
only as a tribute, but also to restore them to their rightful place.

J.C. Leyendecker are the inspiration for the
collages series featuring children, babies,
and characters entangled among the Homo
Videns' characteristic elements. Radios,
television sets, books, funnels, and circus
theme objects are the stage for a reality
that is bottled up and seems to collapse, yet
remains standing in a world uninformed
amid crises and wars.
