Reminiscent: A National Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Impressionism
- October 25, 2025 - November 29, 2025
Reminiscent is an exhibit at d’Art Center that features contemporary impressionistic paintings (and more) from across the country. Impressionism is a style of art that uses light and color to capture a moment in time rather than a realistic image. Impressionism emerged in the early 1860s as some artists began to focus more on the natural sunlight and work “en plein air” which lead to dabbling and broken brushwork due to working quickly in an effort to capture the shifting natural scenes. Some pioneers of impressionism include Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Cezanne. This exhibit will feature works from contemporary artists in this style.
The d’Art Center received just under 150 entries for Reminiscent from 20 states. Just 50 works from 29 artists and 16 states were selected for this exhibit, including 8 Virginians.
This is a juried exhibition, and it will be curated by Gallery Director Amanda Bradley. Award winners will be selected by Juror and Artist, Janice Gay Maker. https://www.janicegaymaker.com
