Artist Statement:

"My medium is printmaking, monotype to be precise. The transparent layers and calligraphy are usually about the movement in the atmosphere that birds live in. I watch finches, junkos wrens and swallows peck, hop, and flit in their attempt to survive. Oil based ink is thinned to flow down a vertical plate which makes transparent veils of color. The prints go through the press many times. The birds are watercolor prints that I ink around. The calligraphy is usually the last element. My challenge is to make the birds part of the calligraphy."
