We received 396 submissions from 34 states for the Nature Homage Open Call. 57 works from 46 artists from 34 states were selected for the exhibition!
This is a juried exhibition, and it will be co-curated by Exhibition Juror, Tonya Hopson, and d’Art Gallery Director Amanda Bradley.
Juror: Tonya Hopson is an award-winning acrylic painter originally from Grand Haven, Michigan. She currently resides in Norfolk, Virginia where she is active in the local art community participating in several art shows, exhibits, and is a member of many art organizations. She is a resident artist at the Artists Gallery in Virginia Beach (VBAC) where she has a working studio and it is her primary retail location. Art has always come naturally to her so to have the opportunity to share her passion with others is a dream come true!
"I grew up on a 40-acre farm in rural Michigan. I appreciate every animal and am very involved in local pet rescue organizations. I have personally had a pet snake, salamanders, hamsters, pigs, chickens, cows, horses, cats, dogs, and rabbits and i've visited many museums and Zoos so I love the exotic as well. My first time at our Virginia Beach Aquarium I was blown away and in awe of how close I could get to such unique creatures! I’m so excited for this journey."
