Artist Statement: Married less than a year ago for the second time, following the death of my late husband in 2015, this piece brings together the symbolism of the Iris for my current husband (wisdom, valor, trust, hope) and the Magnolia for me (perseverence), joining them together with patterns, imagery, and colors of buoyancy/gravity, groundedness/limitlessness, and searching/connection.
