Flourish: A Juried National Exhibition of Floral & Botanical Artworks
- April 19, 2025 - May 24, 2025
Flourish is an exhibition of floral and botanical artworks from across the country. All works depict flowers and/or plants. This is our fourth annual Flourish Exhibit, and this exhibit kicks off Historic Garden Week in Virginia.
We received 737 submissions from 35 states from 207 artists. 68 works from 59 artists from 23 states were selected for the exhibition!
Floral arrangements created by local floral artists that are inspired by select works in the exhibit will be revealed at the opening reception! These arrangements will be available for purchase as a fundraiser for d'Art Center.
This is a juried exhibition, and was co-curated by Gallery Director Amanda Bradley, and Exhibition Juror and artist, Rowena Finn.
Rowena Federico Finn is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist whose work centers her experiences as a Filipina-American woman, teacher, and mother. Born and raised in Virginia, Rowena uses indigenous materials from the Philippines as the starting point for connecting with her heritage and exploring how it weaves into her American upbringing. Her work is distinctly Filipina-American, dissecting decolonialism and embracing BIPOC feminism as the lens through which she examines how belonging and rejection affect identity and authenticity. She is the recipient of the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant, and a creative residency at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts. Her fiber mixed media work has been exhibited in the Made in VA Biennial and one of her botanical watercolors has been published in Splash 23: The Best of Watercolor. Rowena is a Virginia Commission for the Arts Teaching Artist, and has been teaching classical drawing and fundamental art skills for over a decade. Her artwork and community advocacy have garnered her a multitude of published and televised interviews, including features on the PBS series 757 Curate (Seasons 5 and 9). Rowena resides in Virginia Beach, VA with her husband and three children.
