Fraternal Foliage (bounty) by Cynthia Mosser Image: This painting is part of my "Fraternal Foliage" series, which is a satisfying visual experience that incorporates abundant biological appearing motifs and layered art materials. The predominant shapes within this painting are biological forms which float or connect in space. I live around lush greenery, so these shapes are an abstract riff on dense leaf-like forms. I love to layer various media, starting with drawing in the background, then paint, and finally beeswax on top. With a metal stylus, I write into the beeswax, which creates grooves. These grooves are then filled in with white oil paint.

The title of the piece is "Bounty", which refers to abundance, sufficiency or overflow. Shapes are heaped at the bottom, with more floating down to meet them. I believe life is abundant, and I had a strong desire to create a painting that expresses this idea. Comes framed in a natural float frame.
