Every now and again, I've got to reset, and I find that the best way for me to know what's next is to get back to the basics. I let the work show me. Whenever I need to understand the essence of where I'm at -- be it personally or creatively -- I like to work monochromatically, which helps me to intellectualize quiet moments. Often, my grayscale sketches are the bones of a new direction of work that communicates shape, line, and form. This change in palette helps me to take a breath, assess a situation, and then step back out into the world to begin again.
