My abstract paintings are organic. “Blue Velvet” was painted outside on my property under trees. The love of nature inspires my creativity and my high energy approach demands the freedom that being outside allows me. Experimenting is something that feeds my spirit, which is why I use unconventional tools. In this piece, I used my grandfather’s putty knife which is very sentimental to me.
The technique I used should evoke the feeling of water or the flow of movement. The color of blue was chosen because it represents the sky and the sea. After the artwork was completed, it reminded me of the softness of velvet, hence the name “Blue Velvet”.
