Cattle trudge along, following the footsteps of generations of cows who came before them. Beautiful and serene and yet marked for the inevitable as they march toward a point in the distance out of frame.
The old house represents the long line of families who once used it as a dwelling. A symbol of domestication.
I added the cattle gate and rusted chain latch, which reminded me of shackles and it’s shape a collar of sorts. I left one hopeful opening in the fence should they catch a glimpse and break free of their routine.
