Established in 1839 at Newmarket, the 1850 Cambridgeshire was won by Mr. Gratwicke‰Ûªs Landgrave with Jem Chapple up. Landgrave was by Sir Hercules, out of The Landgravine. Chapple did not have much passion for racing, despite winning the Epsom Derby twice and Epsom Oaks on another occasion.
