"As a designer, my goal is to tell the stories I choose to convey through well-placed design, typography, and layout. I am preparing and sharpening my skills like iron by taking already established concepts with specific characteristics like Art Nouveau and creating a work centered around the African American experience.
My cross-cultural illustration, Heritage, was inspired by a line from James Baldwin’s iconic book Notes of a Native Son: 'At the same time I had no other heritage which I could possibly hope to use, I had certainly been unfitting for the jungle or the tribe.' "
