Painted while listening to “Steppin’ In It” by Herbie Hancock.
This Herbie Hancock track has swagger. It moves with confidence, but it never feels heavy.
I let my hand follow the rhythm and watched the white lines loop, drip, hesitate, and take off again across the bright green background. Some marks feel light on their feet. Others land harder, like an accent in a solo.
For me, the painting captures the pleasure of letting the music lead and not needing to know exactly where you are going.
