Doing photography lets me see the ordinary in new ways. It’s an outlet for me to be creative and gain a sense of achievement beyond my daily work. I’ve taken pictures ranging from microscopic (in my job as a Pathologist), terrestrial, and cosmic (astrophotography).
Enchanted Night – The summer stars and Milky Way are beautiful subjects to photograph. With some planning and the right equipment, I made a trip to Enchanted Rock State Park near Fredericksburg, TX to make this photo. In the foreground, are trees along a hiking path where I set up my DSLR camera and tripod that night. The stars and Milky Way are visible horizontally above the distant bright orange city lights of Austin, TX – lights I intentionally avoided by making a trip to the dark park away from the intense light pollution. The brightest spot of light in the sky is actually the planet Jupiter.
Texas Seagulls – [on a] trip to Surfside Beach, TX, my Dad decided to feed the many hungry seagulls flying around. So, they all flew in together to get a bite from him (just outside the field of view), making for a nice portrait of the birds.
