In "Dagga Boy Crossing," my aim was to captivate the viewer with the raw power and danger of a massive Cape Buffalo emerging from the river. Focusing on the buffalo's muscular build and imposing horns, I wanted to capture the inherent danger of these powerful beasts, highlighting their unpredictable and potentially deadly nature. The local tribes often refer to Cape Buffalo as Dagga Boys" due to their tendency to wallow in mud and water. The colorful sky contrasts with the inherent danger of the scene to create a powerful and thought-provoking painting that captures the essence of the Cape Buffalo and the wild beauty of the African savannah.
