Joan Nies is a contemporary California impressionist painter. Her art depicts landscapes of coastlines, beaches, and the desert, as well as interesting buildings, animals, and wildlife. Her work displays the light and colors of Southern California.

Joan studied art in Minnesota, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Art from St. Cloud University. She has been a painter and printmaker for 35 years.

Joan has shown her work at The Athenaeum Music and Arts Library, in La Jolla; the Coronado Art Association; the San Diego Art Association; and Spanish Village, in Balboa Park. She has received many prizes and awards for her original and unique art work.
