Tent City (1996)
Artist: Sue Tushingham McNary
Medium: Oil painting
Location: Coronado Public Library, Spreckels Reading Room

This oil painting of Coronado’s Tent City, which lasted from 1901 until 1939, was painted by Sue Tushingham McNary. The painting was also the source of lithographs of the same scene. Ms. McNary is a Coronado artist, and is well known for her scenes of Coronado and the San Diego region. She died August 3, 2020. The painting was acquired directly from her by Merlyn and Eleanor McIntyre. Gift of Eleanor and Merlyn McIntyre, 1996.
