Coronado Rotary Plaza Rotary Park is a centrally-located triangular spot along the city's main avenue.
The park's new design created a gathering spot for residents and visitors. Contractor T.B. Penick & Sons, San Diego, used various aggregate, recycled glass, and shell lithocrete finishes and acid etching for the paving surfaces, seat walls, and fountain.
The project took nine weeks to complete with an average crew of six people. The fountain was poured seamlessly and features pneumatically-applied mother-of-pearl and silica carbide. The flatwork around the fountain includes Mexican pebbles, tumbled beach glass, recycled blue and clear glass pieces, and abalone shells.
The crosswalks have a Lithocrete Presto finish. Size three beige granite was seeded on their surfaces to create an extremely durable surface for cars and pedestrians.
