In 1990, I was privileged to participate in a Border Patrol ride-along opportunity. The stark and barren region looks nothing like the fortified San Ysidro border sector that exists today. The old landing strip plating is long gone but not forgotten through these images. What has not changed is the ceaseless desire for folks to come to America.
