An original watercolor by local artist Sara Rowe presented to the City of Coronado. The piece is displayed in the lounge adjacent to the Coronado Lawn Bowling facility. Sara, a Coronado resident was renowned in the San Diego area for her watercolor paintings of various local landmarks. ""What I like to paint is something that people can relate to; I paint to please my audience and this, in turn, inspires and rejuvenates my artistic abilities,"" she once said.
She was commissioned to paint 250 original watercolors depicting landmarks of Coronado for the Limited-Edition Book, "" The Enchanted Island."" The Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. requested and received her 1996 Republican Campaign art work for a political art display there. Her paintings were selected on three occasions to grace the covers of the Coronado telephone book. She won numerous honors for her paintings, many of which were made into prints and note cards. Her best client was the Hotel del Coronado, where she was particularly known for her Christmas cards.
