Hermine Bernstein is a mixed media artist, specializing in original hand and machine stitched designs. She uses cotton & wool fabrics, varied ribbons, trims, thread, buttons, and beads to create her textural creations. After having visited multiple times while her son, LT CMDR Peter Bernstein, Retired, served in the Navy, Hermine and her husband Fred moved to Coronado about 2 years ago. She learned to sew at her Gramma Dora’s knee and has been stitching since childhood. During COVID, Hermine, a retired teacher, began taking online embroidery courses, which became her passion. She has taught numerous classes to share her joy with others.
