Connie Spitzer started painting in her late 40’s when a traveling watercolor teacher was in Coronado for the week. As a realtor, Connie began painting homes as a closing present for her clients. This went on for 20 years, until a friend suggested that she enter her “View of the Bridge Painting” for admission to the C-3 Gallery at the Coronado Community Center. Brad Willis, art commissioner did a video interview, and Christine Van Tuyl interviewed her for the Coronado Magazine, and from that, her art career was launched. She soon retired from real estate and now enjoys her hobby full time having painted well over 100 homes in Coronado for homeowners, or as a gift for the owner from a friend or family member. What she loves about Coronado is that no 2 homes are exactly alike, which makes our community the perfect one for capturing the charm of the individual homes and cottages. She is a member of the Coronado Art Association where she serves as secretary. She was asked to do a watercolor book for a reading program for the library, which was given to children at no cost. They are now for sale at several places in town including Bay Books, Coronado Hardware, Coronado Historical Association gift shop, and Emerald C Art Gallery.
