An immense evergreen tree, used since ancient times as a symbol of life. It has taken root at the UCONN Health Center. The Tree of Life, a hand-carved and cast sculpture climbs to nearly 100 feet upon the north facade of the research building.
The bas-relief image of a tree with an entwined Caduceus is located on the exterior of the North-facing wall of the Academic Research Building adjacent to the Main Entrance to the Health Center. The tree is 96' high. At the bottom it is 24' wide and diminishes to 8' wide at the top. The tree is made of cast concrete in 44 separate pieces.
