The composition is from the artist's continuation of the relic series. The series uses abstraction and assemblage to explore constructed identity and the power held in the everyday object, particularly objects held in homes across the African diaspora. These combines include such items as flora, textiles, jewelry, tools, and photographs taken by the artist.
