The artwork consists of two vertical granite forms that are placed on either side of Richards Avenue. The two vertical pieces are similar but different heights and proportions. The taller piece is places on the lawn in front of the new Center for Information Technology Building, to the right of the entrances and crosswalk as on faces the new building. The short piece is across Richards Avenue on the lawn in front of the East Campus Building just to the left of the crosswalk. The concept is to have these two vertical figures in conversation with each other. They visually connect the East and West Campuses. Because of their verticality and because they are round in cross section, they can be seen equally clearly from the buildings and lawns on both campuses as well as along Richards Avenue.
The stones are made from even grained pink granite that is speckled black, gray and orange-pink. This warm tone will relates to the brick of the buildings and the greens and browns of the lawn and trees. The stones have a thermal finish. This finish brings the color but reduces attention to the surface so the true nature of the stone is revealed.
