This project is a playful way to connect the history of New Britain with an informal student sitting area at Central Connecticut State University.
Being a student is about being in a transitory state, these seating elements are abut that state – making connections, sometimes surprising, sometimes wacky, sometimes right on, but always spirited. These seats celebrate the act of learning by creatively assembling tools and objects into whimsical seat forms.
The seats are made out of a combination of teak and bronze castings with lighting incorporated in the pieces so that the pieces function day and night.
