- Norma Minkowitz
1990 was a period when Norma Minkowitz began to create large figurative works that were challenging in their stories and concepts. Boy was created in response to the Gulf War, also called Desert Storm, and addressed the vulnerability of our young soldiers. Minkowitz created an armless figure balancing on a ball, suggesting uncertainty and lack of control in a war situation.
