Miklos Pogany is a visual artist who creates relief-like images from layers of paper, oil paint, ink, pastels, and other media. Born in Budapest, Hungary, and educated in Italy, Pogany pursued postsecondary education in the United States, earning his MA and PhD from the University of Chicago (IL) in Comparative Literature/Aesthetics. He has exhibited worldwide in solo and group exhibitions, and his work is held in numerous collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY), National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institute (Washington, DC), Victoria and Albert Museum (London, England), Bibliotheque National (Paris, France), and the New York Public Library Print Collection (NY). Pogany is also the recipient of a Connecticut State Office of the Arts grant, a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award, and a Rockefeller Foundation Artist in Residence Grant (Bellagio, Italy), among other awards.
