  • Artist: Maureen McCabe (b. 1947)

Maureen McCabe is a collagist who makes complex, original box-constructions from a variety of materials. She was born and raised in Wollaston, MA, and currently lives in Quaker Hill, CT. She received her BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design (RI), and her MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art (MI). McCabe received a National Endowment for the Arts grant through the Renwick Gallery, and completed residencies at Yaddo, an artists’ community in Saratoga Springs, NY, Cite des Arts in Paris (sponsored by Darthea Speyer of the Darthea Speyer Gallery), and the Bellagio Study and Conference Center at the Villa Serbelloni (sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1988). She has an extensive record of museum and gallery exhibitions throughout her career, including the Bellevue Arts Museum (Bellevue, WA), The Cooley Gallery (Old Lyme, CT), Kouros Gallery, Contemporary Art Fair (Greece), Hollis Taggart Galleries (NY), and the Phyllis Kind Gallery (Chicago, IL).
