John Sitton was born in Forsyth, Georgia in 1907.
“John Melza Sitton is active/lives in New York. John Sitton is known for Painter, graphic artist, designer, writer” (1).
“Sitton studied at Yale University and in New York at the Art Students League and the National Academy (1926-27). He was a fellow of the American Academy in Rome where he studed [sic] from 1929 to 1932. Among his instructors were Eugene Savage, Barry Faulkner and Ivan Olinsky. He specialized in mural painting, executing works for the Board Room of the Federal Reserve Building, Atlanta (1937), Riverside Memorial Chapel, New York (1938), and the Post Office at Clifton, New Jersey (1938)” (2).
