Artist: Ziva Sanchez
Art is a visual reflection of my soul, a creation based upon the senses. Nature is my inspiration, colors from vibrant to muted demonstrates the complexity of our lives and world. I’m motivated to create art that is a meaningful representation to myself and others. The message is unique to the viewer, absorbed and translated by their senses.
Artist Bio
I moved to St. Croix from Taos, New Mexico in November 2021 to focus on my art. While in Taos I was embedded in the Artist Community and learned from many renowned artists including Ed Sandoval and Zoe Zimmerman. I began painting as my own PTSD therapy in 2008 after my military service which it included a tour in Iraq and the death of my husband in 2007 while he was serving in Baghdad Iraq. While I have limited formal art education, my decade in Taos allowed me to be immersed in a multitude of mediums. Furthermore, I founded Not Forgotten Outreach, Inc. in Taos, in 2013 for Veterans and Military Families in memory of my husband. Seeing the benefits of Art therapy for my PTSD, I consequently included an Art program and created the Taos Creative Arts Festival.
