I spin newspaper from cities where I have lived around the world, I attempt to represent the process of integration and the creation of a sense of belonging that takes place as I become connected with a new culture. Each newspaper has its own style, content and point of view that is specific to the place from which it comes. The laborious process of cutting, spinning and knitting that takes place in order to transform the newspaper into a finished textile piece correlates to the struggle of the immigrant to integrate with a new host culture.
