This detailed wall hanging artwork is representative of Eveline Kotai’s unique stitched collage technique where strips of painted canvas are reconfigured into new compositions and, in this case, sewn onto a Japanese Obi waistband.
This action of cutting and stitching is a meditative practice that is reflected in the final piece. New combinations of tone, colour and surface merge instinctively into complex harmonies that are reminiscent of life’s ever-present cycles of change - a world in constant transition.
