Rank: Coxswain. Service: US Navy. Theater: Pacific. Dates of Service: 1944 - 1946. Specific Battles: Okinawa
Born on Pleasant Street, Harold Williams enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and attained the rank of Coxswain before his discharge in 1946. He served in the Pacific theater and saw action during the Battle of Okinawa. His brother Robert Williams also served. On their return, both brothers worked as auto body repairmen. Harold eventually opened his own shop, Seaside Auto Body, in Manchester, that he ran until 1991. In 1951 Williams married Jean Adams and the pair were married for 64 years until Jean's passing in July of 2023. The couple had two children, Christine Williams, and no-retired Gloucester Police Lieutenant Tommy Williams.
