Alan LeQuire is known for figurative bronze sculpture, specifically his massive replica of the Athena Parthenos, located in the Nashville Parthenon. This work is the tallest indoor sculpture in the United States, standing around forty-two feet. LeQuire also created the monumental Musica, which is placed on Nashville's Music Row.
Born in Middle Tennessee, LeQuire graduated from Vanderbilt University, and apprenticed with sculptor Milton Herald in Italy. He maintains a studio and gallery space in Nashville, and his work can be seen in other collections throughout Tennessee and the United States.
"The living presence he seeks in his work is fertilized by his belief that in a meaningful world the human figure serves as the primary carrier of significance, and that the human figure is the single subject to which all viewers inevitably respond"
- Madison Smartt Bell, from the artist's website.
