Trial of Christ, The (El Proceso de Cristo, Mexico)

This Mexican poster for Julio Bracho’s 1966 film, The Trial of Christ, centers on the tortured, thorn-crowned face of Jesus leading up to his crucifixion. Bracho’s feature film recounts the trial and last hours of Jesus’ life from the point of view of Peter and Pontius Pilate. It starred Enrique Rocha as Jesus, Víctor Alcoceras Peter, and Julian Soler as Pontius Pilate. It is also interesting to note the similarities between this film’s poster and star and those of, for example, The Gospel According to St. Matthew and Jesus of Montreal.
