Meant to be a symbol of hope, the four elements in this painting represent the persecution of American Indians, the African slaves brought to America against their will, the March on the Selma bridge in the 60s and the George Floyd Murder which further activated the Black Lives Matter movement. The last element has light blue depicting peace and hope. I continue to see good positive changes on racial relations. While we have a ways to go I feel more have the message to do something and not be silent. This gives me great hope and believe we will emerge better for it and get to a place where the same standards of justice are applied to everyone. This was featured at the Stola Gallery in Chicago and then was later awarded the Microsoft Art Award in July of 2021. It took first place from over 400 submissions.
