This painting memorializes the site of the residential school on the Stockbridge-Munsee tribal reservation where my grandfather and great grandfather taught in 1905-1906. The photographs in the painting are scanned from an album of pictures shot by my grandfather then around age 20. Orange Shirt Day recognizes the trauma of Native residential school survivors intergenerationally in Canada and the US.
