Each of the pieces in the Parc André Citroën Series of 100 Paintings is inspired by the afternoon spent sketching and wandering in solitude through the park in August of 2020. The intention for the series is to express the experience of being in various sections of the park rather than the expression of what I actually saw in the park. What I saw triggered a kaleidoscope of memories and feelings.
No. 4 is one of five panels that were informed by an area of the park where a row of block-shaped glass houses, a single tree in each, and a raised boardwalk contrasted sharply with the organic network of overhanging branches surrounding the glass houses.
