plaster, paper, paintbrush, blueprints, pigment, and metal leaf on panel I was honored to be asked to create a piece for my junior high art teacher for her retirement this past June. Since she had a large influence on me, I was happy to comply! I incorporated one of my favorite quotes about art making: It is art that makes
life, makes interest, makes importance,
and I know of no substitute
for the force and beauty
of it‚'s process
- Henry James I included music, which was always playing in her room. Blueprints from the art room she designed line the niche that holds a well-used paintbrush. Logos from political slogans and the Illinois Education Association help populate the piece.
