The Fibonacci Sequence divides space with a mathematical formula. This formula is found all over nature. In painting, the Old Masters used the Fibonacci Sequence in many of their compositions. By dividing the space down, the eye is lead to the smallest point. The Old Masters used this to locate their center of interest.
In my painting, “Fibonacci or GPS?,” I’ve taken the liberty of playing with this sequence. In the painting, a canvas sits on an easel. That canvas is accurately rendered by mathematically dividing it by the formula. Each division in itself is a little composition. But then, the viewer is lead to the GPS map marker - with an ‘x marks the spot’! The old and the new coexisting in one space.
This begs the lighthearted question, “How did I get here?.....Fibonacci or GPS?”
