- Harold Barling Town
A founding member of the Painters Eleven group, Harold Town was a pivotal figure in the growth of abstract art in Canada. His best known work stems from his autographic or monotype prints using lithography, ink cut outs, and stencils. The recipient of a 1960 Guggenheim Fellowship, Town was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1968. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, Documenta III, and the Bienal de São Paulo and is in the collections of the Guggenheim and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
