Forward Bend 16x20 inch acrylic on canvas. Keeping with the primary colour palette of the rest of my Yoga Series, this is the first one to use glazes to layer the colours. The result is a deep translucency and many layers working together for the imperfect yet complete whole.
To me, this pose is about letting go of the ego and allowing the body to just hang there in a way that feels good but doesn't need to look impressive or difficult. Of course this is true for every pose, this is just the one where that concept clicked for me. I like to play around with subtle changes, maybe one day the left foot is a little higher than the next. Maybe one day the bend is a little deeper, anyway you look at it, it's about intuition and acceptance.
