- Patient and Family Experience Department
This mural was created by the Patient and Family Experience Team to represent the ethos of the department:
We're all in this together. A kind word. A gentle hand. An open heart. Every moment matters. Our actions count. It all counts and we're all a part of it. Every moment. Every day. All Together.
This team is made up of a wide variety of programs that share a common goal: creating moments that matter for patients, families and Children's Hospital Colorado team members. The mosaic motif is carried throughout the piece not only in its construction but also in its meaning. From the layers of medicine caps to the canvases themselves, small individual efforts come together to influence experience. Since many members of this team are spread out, either working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic or spread out across the system of care, the base of the mural was initially painted on many smaller canvases so that team members could individually add their medicine caps before assembling the full mural together. The layers of mosaic represent the many moments that are a part of a person's experience at Children's and the people that need to come together to care for a patient during their entire care journey.
The center of the piece is the logo for the Patient and Family Experience Department: a Venn diagram representing the patient and family experience and the team member experience coming together to care for a patient. In the middle, a heart representing the "heart" of what we do. The logo is surrounded with outstretched hands representing all the people who come together to fulfill our mission.
